Constructionline Checker: How to Verify a Company's Membership and Tier

The tier is the whole question, and it is the one part no free tool will answer. Nobody asks whether a company is "on Constructionline" for its own sake. They ask because a contract says Gold, and Gold is what has to be proved.

Is there a public Constructionline checker?

Not an open one. Constructionline's search product is Find Supplier, and it is built for buyers: it filters by work category across 4,800-plus categories, plus company size, location, membership level and verification status. (Constructionline Find Supplier, checked 19/09/2026)

That membership-level filter is exactly what you want. It is also the reason the tool is not free — supplier discovery is the product Constructionline sells to buyers. Constructionline's own suggestion for checking a list of suppliers is to send it to your Constructionline contact, which presupposes you already have one.

So there are two populations here. If your organisation holds a buyer membership, you already have the answer and should use Find Supplier. If you do not, read on.

How do you check Constructionline membership without an account?

Two partial routes and one complete one.

   Search the SSIP Portal at ssipportal.org.uk. Free, no account needed. Because Constructionline bundles SSIP into every paid tier, a current member will normally appear. This confirms they hold a valid SSIP certificate — nothing about the tier.

   Ask for the certificate. The only route that shows the tier, the expiry date and the categories. It is one email and any current member can answer it the same day.

What does each tier actually prove?

Worth knowing before you decide which one you need to verify, because buyers routinely ask for a tier above what the work requires.

• Bronze — the entry tier. SSIP bundled. The basic pre-qualification record.
• Silver — adds further checks on top of Bronze.
• Gold — the tier that carries Common Assessment Standard desktop certification, which is what most public-sector and framework buyers now mean when they name Constructionline.

Why is the tier not on any public register?

For the same reason the contractor list is not: it is the product. Constructionline is a paid pre-qualification service on both sides — suppliers pay to be assessed, buyers pay to search. A free public tier lookup would give away the buyer side.

The SSIP Portal is public because SSIP is an industry body with a different purpose: reducing duplicate health-and-safety assessments. It exists to stop you being assessed four times, not to help anyone shop.

What if a company is not on the SSIP Portal at all?

For a claimed Constructionline member, absence is more meaningful than it would be for a CHAS or SafeContractor claim — because SSIP is bundled at every paid tier, a current member usually should appear. Before concluding anything, rule out the ordinary explanations:

• Assessed in the last 72 hours. Member schemes upload within 24 hours as a rule, but entries can take up to three days to become visible.
• Searched under the wrong name. Use the registered company name, not the trading name.
• A free or lapsed account. Membership that has expired, or a registration that never became a paid tier, will not carry a live SSIP certificate.

If none of those fit, ask for the certificate and check its expiry date.

How do I check my own Constructionline entry?

Search your own registered name on the SSIP Portal — that is what a buyer without an account sees. If you are not there more than three days after certification, contact Constructionline, since only the scheme that assessed you can correct an entry.

Then check the name matches the legal entity on your tenders. A mismatch between the name on your certificate and the name on your bid is a procurement query you would rather not receive at the deadline.

Is there a free Constructionline checker?

Not for membership tier. Find Supplier, which does filter by membership level, is a buyer tool inside Constructionline's platform. The free SSIP Portal will usually show a current paid member because SSIP is bundled at every tier, but it confirms SSIP status only and does not name the tier or the scheme.

Can I verify someone is Constructionline Gold without paying?

Only by asking them for the certificate. No public tool distinguishes Gold from Bronze — both appear identically on the SSIP Portal. If a contract depends on Gold, get the certificate and check the expiry date rather than relying on a search result.

Does an SSIP Portal result prove Constructionline membership?

No. It proves a valid SSIP certificate from some member scheme. That could be Constructionline at any paid tier, or it could be CHAS, SMAS, Once For All or another scheme entirely — the portal deliberately does not say which, because all member assessments count as equivalent.

How do buyers actually check Constructionline status?
